Most people don’t make it down as far as Argentina, but they are shooting themselves in the foot because it’s such a beautiful country. It lies at the bottom of South America, so it will naturally take you a little longer to reach, which is the main reason people tend to avoid it.
The individuals who do go will tell you they don’t regret it for a second. You’re probably wondering why it’s so good, so let’s look at some of the top things you would be doing should you happen to go there. If you think it sounds interesting, you should give it a chance.
Go and visit the Iguazu Falls
If you make your way to the north of the country, you will eventually reach Iguazu Falls, which are beautiful waterfalls that will take your breath away. They just won a competition to be included as one of the seven new natural wonders. The Niagara Falls are less than half the width and shorter too, so I’m sure you can picture how big the Iguazu falls are. In the area where they are situated, there are hundreds of them with the Devil’s Throat taking the crown for the most famous waterfall of them all.
If you reach Patagonia, you will be in one of the most southern places in the world before you hit Antarctica. You can catch a cruise there from Ushuaia, which tells you how close you are. Because it’s not very well-known, you can hike around for ages without bumping into any fellow tourists. There are large, beautiful lakes where you can swim and thousands of little penguins that will come to say hello as you’re eating lunch.
Mendoza Wine Region
If you are a wine lover, you will enjoy driving around the famous wine region. The lovely city of Mendoza is definitely where you should base yourself before you set off on your journey into the heart of the Argentinian winemaking industry. The vineyards are located in the foothills of the Andes, so they are positioned in some of the highest altitudes in the world. There are many tour operators in the area, and you will be able to book everything through them.
If you’re a nature lover, you will want to visit the Ibera Wetlands, which are the second largest wetlands in the entire world. It is a real paradise where you will get lost in the beauty. It’s home to some amazing creatures you will bump into on your journey including howler monkeys, pampas deer, and armadillos. When you’re exploring, you can do it by foot, but also by boat or on horseback.
You can do thousands of things inside the capital city, and you must visit it no matter what you do. Would you like to learn how to salsa dance where they teach it better than anyone else in the world? If you love steak, you will probably want to try out some beautiful restaurants where it will melt in your mouth. Just like most other capital cities, it has beautiful areas to walk around in, some great museums, and a pumping nightlife that doesn’t even start until after midnight.
Don’t miss out
Everyone should pay at least one visit to Argentina, and I guarantee you will want to come back. We’ve touched on a few nice things you can do, but a single article doesn’t give it justice because the country is packed with everything you could ever imagine. It’s definitely worth the long flight, so think about it carefully before picking out your next holiday destination.
